Now in its seventh edition, the MiraTone Festival and Academy – founded by violinist Miranda Liu – has become one of Central Europe’s most vibrant classical music events. Each year, it brings together internationally acclaimed artists and passionate young musicians in the heart of Budapest.
This recital pays tribute to Maurice Ravel on the 150th anniversary of his birth. Renowned for his interpretative depth and commitment to 20th-century repertoire, Simeon Goshev, the acclaimed pianist based in Vienna, presents a captivating program featuring Ravel’s impressionistic waltzes alongside works by Robert Schumann, Vesselin Stoyanov, and Vassil Kazandjiev.  Schumann’s Davidsbündlertänze is one of the most personal and poetic piano cycles of the Romantic era – a musical diary where the composer’s inner world is explored through the contrasting characters of Eusebius and Florestan. Stoyanov’s Three Piano Pieces blend Balkan folk elements with classical forms and modern harmonic language. Kazandjiev’s works add a vivid and often surreal soundscape, especially in Scary Dream, with its haunting atmosphere and dramatic contrasts. The evening concludes with Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales, a masterful fusion of nostalgia, elegance, and bold harmonies – a musical homage to Schubert through the prism of early 20th-century French modernism.
A concert full of contrasts, refinement, and emotional intensity – don’t miss this exceptional musical journey.
